"We had both boys tested and to our relief she did find the source of their problem, they each have layers of learning disability. Having our sons tested brought about a change in our families attitudes. All denial was displaced, and replaced by hope. As parents we had more understanding for our sons in the way they process information. We were empowered to advocate for them and bring understanding to their teachers. We grew closer as a family and enjoyed one another more. Financially this was not an easy decision for our family, but looking back it was the best decision we have made for our sons. They got the help they needed and the support to implement their success."
L.S.; Mother of two boys, ages 18 and 20
"I knew my son had a massive reading problem that was affecting his self-esteem. He couldn't read his text books and considered himself to be "dumb.” The testing helped me get an IEP for him that includes a reading teacher trained in the method you suggested that will help him learn to read. I had to fight for it, but in the end, the county provided an excellent reading teacher for him. I think it is beginning to change the way my son views himself. Without the testing, we wouldn't have gotten the specialized instruction. It helped open the door to a brighter future."
C.P, Mother of 16-year old with a history of reading problems
"Thank you so much for the time you spent with our family. You have been so helpful and while it is very sad that she does have this disability it is a great comfort to us to finally have confirmation and answers. Thank you again for your thoroughness, skill and extensive awareness of reading disabilities. We truly appreciate your help!"
J.C.; Mother of 7-year old girl diagnosed with dyslexia
"Our son actually enjoyed his day of testing and came home eager to tell me all about it. He seemed to think it was “fun” which is a great tribute to your abilities. Thank you for your comprehensive report. I have read it once and am still digesting it. My first reaction is that you have hit the nail on the head."
R.M., Father of 7th grader
"We appreciated your thorough intake and review of our daughter's past experiences and assessments, as well as your inclusion of us in your thinking process of what assessments to administer. We were especially pleased with how well you connected with her, making her comfortable and able to show you her best skills. Given her very reserved, shy nature this was of critical importance. It was important to us that you did all of the assessment yourself and that you scheduled additional sessions as needed to accommodate her attention and stamina. We also appreciated your prompt feedback, indepth interpretation of the results and that most of the report was detailed recommendations with references and even suggested referrals to specialists in the area. Your assessment was critical in our understanding of our daughter's true strengths and needs and in facilitating finding the educational and remedial programs that are right for her. Your phone contact with the director of a potential school placement helped us to choose the school our daughter is now thriving in."
L.K. and J.K, Parents of 12-year old girl
"I tutor students with special needs and often assist parents seeking services for their children as their advocate at meetings with school officials. Reports of psychoeducational evaluations by private psychologists are the chief tool parents have in these situations. During the past year, I went to two meetings with one of Dr. Varia's reports in hand. They made a huge difference. Dr. Varia is an excellent diagnostician and has tremendous credibility because of her education and experience. Her reports are clear and unambiguous. Her recommendations are well thought out and to the point." Jim H. Reston; Reston tutor and advocate."

"Meeting Dr. Varia was life changing for our family. Dr. Varia was so kind, so easy to work with, and so professional. Her testing was thorough, and we felt very confident with her diagnoses of high functioning Asperger's Autism, as well as three related learning disabilities, which is typical of Asperger's. But it was her analysis of the test results that really wowed us. Her report--over 30 pages long--detailed all the strengths of our beautiful, gifted son, but also explained (finally!) where he struggled and why. Dr. Varia's report also contained three pages of suggested school accommodations to help him in a classroom environment. It was SUCH a relief to feel that we had a complete understanding of our son, and the information we needed to address his weaknesses. Armed with this new information, we were able to place our son at a private school that could address his needs and continue developing his strengths. He is blossoming there, and we could not be happier. The critical link in our success with our son was proper testing and diagnosis, and Dr. Varia provided both. Thanks, Dr. Varia!" "

"Along with our obvious rave reviews for your work, I wanted you to know that the school nurse at our school(she’s been there for a long time) grabbed me the other day was effusive in her praise for your work. She said in all her years in the system she has never seen a more well organized, thorough, and results-oriented report. She asked if I minded if she shared it with her daughter who is one of the folks the Superintendent tasked with trying to put more inclusion programs/classes. "
