Dr. Baumgartner specializes in the assessment and treatment of mood, anxiety, substance and eating disorders and life transition complications in primarily adolescent and adult populations. As the former middle school counselor for a local all girls’ private school and serving as the clinical director for Rachel Simmons’ (author of Odd Girl Out and The Curse of the Good Girl) Girls Leadership Institute, Dr. B has a focus on female adolescent physical, social, and emotional development. Her clinical research is in exercise, nutrition, and psychological wellness and developed Fitness in Teens (FIT) program based on this research. She is now creating workshops for Life Time Fitness in health and wellness. Dr. B has also examined the link between psychology and fashion to provide her patented InsideOut’s Wardobe Analysis and has a blog on Psychology Today titled The Psychology of Dress. She is currently writing a book, InsideOut, and working on a television program based on this concept.
Dr. Baumgartner received her B.A. in biology from Gettysburg College. She received her master’s and doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology.
As part of her clinical training, she worked as a suicide and crisis hotline operator in Montgomery County. At the Circle Treatment Center, she provided assessments, therapy, and developed substance education and treatment groups for those with drug and alcohol addictions and their families. As a therapist at Union Memorial Hospital, she also conducted group therapy to those in the inpatient ward and those in physical rehabilitation. As an intern, she worked as a therapist at San Bernardino Department of Behavioral Health (SBDBH) Community Mental Health Center. She also conducted group therapy, psychoeducation, and nutrition and exercise education for those at risk of substance use during and after pregnancy in SBDBH’s Perinatal Program. Additionally, she worked at SBDBH’s Amazing Place, a day treatment program for those with psychotic disorders, teaching meditation classes. She completed her post doctoral training as a therapist at a private practice Psychological Solutions.
